What Is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a conscious awareness of the breath that offers the chance for profound transformation through improved emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is an ancient and expansive practice that allows us to tap into our body’s innate wisdom and access the keys to unlock our true potential.

How does it work?

How we breath is often indicative of how we feel. When we are anxious, stressed, or fatigued we tend to take shallow, fast breaths, whereas if we are relaxed, calm, and centered, our breathing is generally slow, deep, and rhythmic. Breathwork is a way to essentially bypass our mind by focusing our energy on certain patterns of breathing, thereby activating the parasympathetic nervous system and taking us out of the fight or flight mode and into a deeper level of consciousness. In turn, we are able to process emotions on a somatic level rather than using the cognitive mind. The power of learning how to work with our breath is that we realize that we have everything we need to heal ourselves and transform the way we experience and store emotions.
